HALEY These are awful photos of a BEAUTIFUL purebred Cocker Spaniel we have named Haley. She was rescued by a sweet police officer who spotted her running down the middle of I-65!!!! The officer quickly blocked traffic and scooped Haley up and out of danger. She is now safe at TEARS Town. All attempts were made to find Haley's home; but all failed. She had no ID tags and was not micro-chipped. This sweet, gentle girl is a dream. She adores children, actually lighting up when she sees kids. She is good with other dogs, but does prefer ones her size or smaller. The larger ones seem to intimidate her. Haley is a gorgeous red and white parti-colored Cocker. She is fairly young; a year old at most. She has been vaccinated and dewormed. Haley will be spayed before being adopted.
She also suffers from a condition called "Cherry Cye". Cherry Eye is a congenital defect; a prolapse of the tear gland in the third eyelid. Cherry Eye is most common in Beagles, Boston Terriers, Bulldogs, and Cocker Spaniels. The gland bulges out from beneath the eyelid when the attachments on the underside of the eyelid are weak. The name "Cherry Eye" comes from the cherry-like appearance of the normal sized tear gland. Cherry Eye tends to irritate the surface of the eye and cause recurrent conjunctivitis. Corrective surgery can be done to reposition the third eyelid and the prolapsed tear gland, allowing in continual tear production. TEARS is not in a financial position now to treat Haley for her Cherry Eye. We are hoping to either have the funds donated for her surgery or perhaps her new family will be generous enough to also treat her.
Update 3/3/07 - Thanks to those who have contributed to Haley's eye surgery. She came home from the hospital this weekend and looking better. We almost have enough to pay for this one. As soon as the eye is healed she will be ready for her forever home. Come back and check on her progress. < Update 3/11/07 - Her eye is much better and I am sure she will mend much faster with a real family of her own. We hope to get pictures of Haley in a few weeks. Thanks again to all that helped make this possible for Haley. She is so worth it. |
