Possums Cindy Ragland, a wildlife biologist and head of the US Forest Service here, called and said they had a mother possum and five little ones. The mother got hit by a car at Lake Payne recreation area on US Forest Service lands and was killed, but the babies were ok. The local conservation officer was out of town, but Terra's love of possums is known throughout the area. TEARS now has 5 more possums to nurture until they are ready to return to the wild. They are only a few months old. When born, possums are so small that you can fit 21 of them into a teaspoon. However, the mother can only nurse 13, so many die right away. This possum is the size of a pinkie...
