What
happens when there IS a TEARS...
Last night Sept 10, 2007 a local police department
called on us to assist a stranded disabled traveler from Idaho.
Her car was broke down, she had no money and nowhere to stay. She
also had 2 English Mastiff service dogs who assist her in pulling
herself up if she falls. They are fitted with special harnesses
that allow her to use them as leverage to rise after a fall from
her disability. The police department was successful in getting
her a place to stay in a shelter and a church to pay for the repairs
to her car. That however left her two loyal companions out of the
picture as shelters do not allow pets. This is not a service commonly
provided by any rescue groups or shelters in the area -- let alone
after hours. Since the police department was less than 10 miles
from TEARStown, we decided to step in and assist them. The donations
we have recently received allowed us to still be here to assist
in this situation.
Thanks to your recent donations there is still a TEARS to provide
services that would otherwise not be available.
