I would like to share with you the progress of the cat that I adopted
in January.
He went from wild cat to lap cat in about ten days.
We adopted Brownie in February 2005. He is the love of our lives.
Brownie was rescued from an elderly lady in Arab, AL who was living
in a condemned house with, I think about 3 dozen other dogs and several
kittens. We quickly learned that Brownie had "issues". Our
vet said he might overcome them and he might not. Well he hasn't.
He is wonderful alone with Mom and Dad but is afraid of everything
and everyone that moves. He does not like company and will not come
willingly back into the house after someone has left. When we have
tried to take him out in public, he cowers, shakes and pees. Our vets
office is so sweet with him. On our last vet visit she said how lucky
Brownie was to find us. But we feel lucky to have found him. We may
never know what some of these dogs have been through. But we can offer
them a safe and loving forever home.
Thanks Tears for helping us find such a special dog.
I'm sorry I haven't sent an update on Munchkin in a long while. I promised you some pictures to show to the folks at TEARS when his fur was all grown out. As you can see, he's nothing like the emaciated, sick, half-feral cat I adopted from you back in January. He's a happy lively little guy and fully as cute and as much of a ham as he looks like in the pictures. I sometimes call him the "King of Cute". My mother thinks he looks like a show cat. It took 3 months to bring him around, but now he makes sure he gets plenty of attention. He's not a lap kitty (except for when he's trying to steal my dinner), but expects to be picked up and cuddled several times a day, have his "Munchkin Man" song sung to him, and receive belly rubs. He plays for hours on end with his balls with bells in them (which he has scattered all over the house), loves to chase the other cats, and also enjoys chasing the laser when I bring out the laser pointer. A person who was unacquainted with his background would probably never dream that he came from a kitty mill type of situation, but presume that he had been spoiled since kittenhood. It shows what a difference love and care can make for even animals that got off to a horrific start.
By the way, this month's theme for the library displays and library newsletter was "pet care and adoption". We used one of the pictures from your website of the seized Blount Co. cats and these recent pictures of Munchkin to illustrate the before and after of an abused animal and one that has been adopted into a loving home and received proper care. So he's our "poster boy" for animal welfare.

Zora (formerly Cayenne) fits in very well with our household. She likes to get on the bed with us in the morning and get petted before we start our day.
It's obvious to me that she received great care at TEARS; she wouldn't be such a well-adjusted and happy dog if she hadn't.
Thanks again, and good luck with the rest of the TEARS animals,
Caitlin
Pogo (formerly Maggie) is doing great! She loves to play with her toys and run around the house 90mph. Mom says she is a cutie.
Thanks again for all ya'll do,
David and Melanna Wray

I wasn't told much about her past but Belle was getting older as a puppy (over six months) but once we got her home we saw she had plenty of energetic puppy qualities. Her sister had already been adopted and the Tears personnel said she had not had any recent inquiries. She seemed quite shy at first but after a few days she let her true personality out. Rippin' and runnin' usually, Belle only takes a break for a belly rub from her people.
Pictured here is Amy Reno with her two newly adopted rescue cats!!
Hollywood patiently waited over 2 years for his home!! Well worth the wait he tells us. Hollywood is now called Angel & he is spoiled rotten!!
Booker is one of over 200 Persians confiscated from horrible conditions. He found his second chance with the Stewart family who opened their hearts and home to him.
Once a sickly, tiny puppy Mayhem is now healthy and happy in her forever home!!
Adopted as a young puppy, ZuZu has filled her forever home with joy & laughter.

Trinket (now Celie) is fitting in nicely in her new home
T.J. is doing great! He is such a playful, full of personality kitty. He often carries his toys in his mouth wanting to play and loves playing with the two other kittens.
Combo (now Rambo) is gentle as a lamb and is very considerate of our other dogs. He is a dandy companion and likes watching TV with us and being petted - a lot. He has not figured out how to use the dog door, as yet, but we are working on it. He is a treasure and we are lucky to have him.
Chaos (now Sarge) enjoys surfing the net.
Rooney with his new family
Calypso (now Chloe) with her friend Cooper
Both of these kitties were from the Persian rescue. They look quite content, huh?
Sparkle (now Lucy) has found a new home with the Hobbs family!!
